Join us for a transformative one-day singing workshop designed for wāhine, guided by Lisa Tui Aroha Jonathan and Michelle Mahanga.
This wānanga will explore:
Singing games and activities to build confidence, precision, and vocal certainty
The 4 key elements of singing
A blend of stories, strategies, and skills to improve your singing experience
You’ll leave with tools to unlock your voice and connect more deeply with your breath, with others, and with the power of waiata.
This wānanga is open to all women (wāhine) interested in exploring singing in a supportive, culturally rich space. No previous singing experience needed. Nourishing kai and drinks will be available throughout the day.
About the Facilitators:
Lisa Tui Aroha Jonathan
Lisa brings over 22 years of teaching and vocal performance experience across prisons, theatre, and tertiary education. Her jazz-folk vocal style and love for taonga pūoro enrich her workshops with improvisation, storytelling, and deep cultural awareness.
Michelle Mahanga
With 30+ years in social services, Michelle weaves kaupapa Māori values into every space she holds. Her deep dedication to kapa haka fosters belonging, healing, and personal transformation through cultural connection and collective voice.
