Event description

Calling all Wizards!

Come celebrate National Eucalypt Day with Wattlebrush School of Bushcraft & Wizardry. Wands, Brooms & Eucalyptus Blooms is a free, family-friendly celebration of the magic of Australia’s iconic eucalyptus trees. Craft your own wand and broomstick from eucalyptus wood, mix up mystical gumnut potions, and make enchanted gifts for the tiny guardians of the gumtrees.

With storytelling, nature crafts, and hands-on wizarding activities for all ages, this spellbinding event invites you to connect with the bush in a whole new way.

Event Highlights for "Wands, Brooms & Eucalyptus Blooms"

Wand-Making & Broomstick Building
Craft Wands and Broomsticks from eucalyptus leaves, gumnuts, and bark, learning about the unique properties of different eucalyptus species. Your enchanted creations are for you to take home and treasure.

Care of Magical Creatures
Before selecting wand materials wizards must first befriend the gumtree guardians and learn how to care for the magical creatures that call these trees home. An immersive experience where children learn "tree whispering"—discovering how eucalyptus trees communicate, release their scents, and support local wildlife.

Potions Class
A hands-on potion-making station where wizards will mix botanical brews using eucalyptus-infused ingredients, uncovering the plant’s real-world healing, antibacterial, and aromatic properties.

Nature Crafts & Bush Treasures
Creative workshops where families can make leaf rubbings for talismans, press eucalyptus leaves into amulets, or thread gumnuts into charms—blending art, ecology, and storytelling.

It will be a wonderful morning mixing Australian Eucalypts and magic traditions from the northern hemisphere.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the knowledge holders of the special magic of this land, its waterways and skies for millennia. When we gather, we pay our respects to traditional custodians and honour their enduring connection to country.
