Description

On this Earth Day evening, join Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, internationally renowned teacher, accomplished author, and lineage holder in the Tibetan Bön tradition, for a special gathering hosted by SF Dharma Collective. In conversation with Eve Ekman, contemplative scientist and teacher, and in dialogue with the audience, Rinpoche will explore our intimate relationship with the living world through the lenses of shamanic, tantric, and Dzogchen traditions. Through teaching and guided practice, the evening invites a direct, embodied sense of connection with the elements, illuminating how the natural world lives within and around us, and how awareness can deepen our sense of belonging on Earth Day.

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

Founder and spiritual director of Ligmincha International, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is a respected and beloved teacher and meditation master in the Bön Buddhist tradition of Tibet. He has students in more than 25 countries, teaches around the world and reaches thousands of students through his online programs.

Trained as a Bön monk, Rinpoche now lives as a householder, allowing him to more fully relate to the needs and concerns of his students. Known for the depth of his wisdom and his unshakeable commitment to helping students recognize their true nature, he is the author of many books and online courses.

Eve Ekman, MSW, PhD, is the director of training at the Greater Good Science Center. She is also a UC Berkeley- and UCSF-trained social scientist and teacher in the field of emotional awareness and burnout prevention. Eve is a second-generation emotion researcher and has had meaningful collaborations with her father, renowned emotion researcher Dr. Paul Ekman. Their most recent project, The Atlas of Emotions, is an online visual tool to teach a language for improving our emotional awareness that was commissioned and supported by the Dalai Lama. Eve is the co-lead instructor for Cultivating Emotional Balance, an evidence-based meditation and emotion regulation training developed by Dr. Paul Ekman and Buddhist scholar Alan Wallace.

Note that this event will take place at the Children's Day School, 601 Dolores St, San Francisco, not at the SF Dharma Collective!

This very special evening is a fundraiser for the San Francisco Dharma Collective and tickets are required! Please contact sfdharmacollective@gmail.com to request a scholarship.
