    Event description

Citizen Science is an easy way to take critical action for the environment. Learn how you can participate, hear from others about their achievements and understand how these actions make positive change.  Our panel includes four guests who will discuss their motivations for involvement in citizen science and some of the milestones achieved along the way.

    Meet the Panel

Amy Gregorovich is an environmentalist passionate about elevating young people within the conservation sector. She volunteers with the Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater, a group working to protect Victoria’s critically endangered bird emblem.

Danielle Wallace is an ecologist and PhD candidate University of Melbourne researching frogs and the deadly fungal disease, amphibian chytrid fungus . As a field ecologist she understands the importance of rigorous data collection and being mindful to minimise potential negative impacts when out collecting data.

Hansi Wegner is the Field Officer - Team Leader of the Citizen Science Crew based at Devilbend Natural Features Reserve on the Mornington Peninsula. He started the Citizen Science Crew in 2018 and since then has established a diverse range of projects that bring positive benefits to the Reserves’ fauna, flora and visitors in an engaging, practical, hands-on manner.

Lily Setnik is a volunteer Project Coordinator with the Citizen Science Crew. Her favourite aspect of being a Citizen Science volunteer is the amazing and passionate people she meets, such as the wonderful Hansi Wegner. She also loves the feeling of connection to the land developed through advocating for, and restoring, a specific place such as Devilbend Natural Features Reserve.
