Description

“How do we think our way through the messes we’re in when the way we think is part of the mess?”Nora Bateson (Originator of Warm Data Labs)

You are invited to join us for a Warm Data Lab at Coop Social Club on Sunday, September 27 from 11am to 3pm.

In this whirlwind of change, we might have a lot of tools for connection, but sometimes they don’t seem to provide space for our stories as people, the very nutrients that feed our shared soil. We trade bits and pieces of information like at a networking event, but never slow down long enough to nourish the shared ground, leaving us depleted and malnourished.

As our titles and roles fade in the Lab, Warm Data gives us an opportunity to remember experiences we may have long forgotten, notice unexpected connections and sit in wonder of what may emerge.

What is a Warm Data Lab?

Warm Data Labs have been described by some as little “kaleidoscopes of conversation.”

We start with one person sharing a story to set the scene (don't worry, they are picked ahead). Then we are invited to all move freely around the room, sharing stories and observations around a common question, from many different angles and contexts. What tends to emerge is something none of us could have arrived at alone. At the end we come back together and combine what we have noticed, as we gathered and explored.

The experience may nourish vitality, subtly transform our approach to work, life, and community, and ultimately, create space for relationships and projects to come to life.

  • How do I prepare?

No preparation is necessary. Bring your curiosity, open mind, open heart, and a friend. English will be the shared language during our conversations.

  • When is it?

The gathering will begin at 11am. We will promptly serve Warm Data at 11:30am. After finishing around 1:30pm, snacks will be offered. Bring your favorite if you'd like.

  • How do I get there?

The lab will take place at 98A Green Street in Jamaica Plain, very close to the Green Street stop on the orange line.

  • What does it cost?

We are asking for a $5 contribution and no one will be turned away for lack of funds (more on solidarity pricing below).

As Nora Bateson says, let’s explore becoming “people who are eager to practice perceiving the complexity and interdependency in every aspect of our lives” and live into the mysteries of the unknown together, perhaps a little more playfully and hopefully.

Anything else I need to know?

You will be hosted by john gieryn, Brandon Dubé and Ivona Boroje. We are inspired to practice Warm Data to co-create and enliven relationships in living systems.

We're asking for a $5 contribution to help cover costs and encourage commitment to attending.

The actual cost of putting on the event is closer to $15 per person when we factor in transportation, venue costs, and the hosts' time away from work. If you're in a position to contribute more, your support helps make the event sustainable and is greatly appreciated.

At the same time, we don't want cost to be a barrier. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If the registration fee is difficult for you, email warmdataboston@gmail.com and we'll send you a code to register for free—no questions asked.
