Join us for a cosy evening curled up on the lounge as PLV CEO Angela Savage chats with acclaimed writers and Warm Winter Read Ambassadors Pip Williams and Kate Mildenhall. 

Pip Williams is best known for her companion novels, The Dictionary of Lost Words and The Bookbinder of Jericho. Since its publication in 2020, The Dictionary of Lost Words has been translated into more than thirty languages and is an international best seller. It has won a number of major Australian book awards, been shortlisted for the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction and was chosen for the Reese Witherspoon Book Club. It went on to be a New York Times best seller and has been adapted for stage, is being turned into a book concerto, and has been optioned for a limited series. The Bookbinder of Jericho was published in 2023 to wide acclaim and was the best-selling Australian novel for that year.

Kate Mildenhall is a writer who lives on the outskirts of Melbourne with her family. Her debut novel, Skylarking was published in Australia by Black Inc. in 2016 and in the UK by Legend Press in 2017. Skylarking was longlisted for the Voss Literary Prize 2017 and the Indie Book Awards 2017. Kate has received residencies at Varuna, the Writers House and at Bundanon. With friend and author Katherine Collette, Kate co-hosts The First-Time podcast, a podcast about the first time you publish a book. Her second novel, The Mother Fault, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2020 and Harper Collins in the UK in May 2021. THE HUMMINGBIRD EFFECT, Kate’s third novel, was published in Australia 2023.
