WASHED AWAY Screening The Savoy Long Jetty
Event description
Join one of the directors Terry Webster for a preview screening of Washed Away.
Washed Away is not just a documentary; it is a social enterprise dedicated to celebrating community resilience and addressing critical challenges, such as the funding gap that hinders recovery efforts. This powerful film delves into the heart of the Northern Rivers floods of 2022, showcasing the incredible spirit of ordinary Australians who became heroes in the face of disaster.
The documentary highlights the stark realities faced by those affected, shedding light on the immense challenges of rebuilding lives and homes. Recognising these obstacles, Washed Away has partnered with the Hands and Hearts project, embarking on a mission to repair 100 homes and beyond for the most vulnerable members of the community.
With a commitment to making a tangible difference, 50% of the profits raised through a Pay Per View subscription service to view the film will be donated directly to this community volunteer project. The Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre (MRNC), a DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) charity, administer all funds raised, ensuring 100% are used to pay for trades and materials for the most vulnerable. This initiative aims to bring people back home, restoring a sense of stability and hope.
Washed Away serves as both a celebration of community strength and a call to action, inviting viewers to be part of a movement that goes beyond storytelling. By supporting this film, you contribute to a cause that directly impacts lives, helping to rebuild homes and fortify communities against future adversities.
Join us in this inspiring journey of recovery and empowerment, and be a part of making a lasting difference.
