Watching the Stars: Pauline Maudy with Peta Leigh Wilson
Event description
Pauline Maudy (MZAZA) is an accomplished French-Australian vocalist and songwriter who weaves the human experience into soulful songs, conjuring melodies and lyrics that delve into hardship, strength and connection.
She is joined by Peta Leigh Wilson (piano), celebrated accompanist, musical director and creator of recording project ‘Coco Hue’.
Pauline and Peta recently undertook a residency at Harrigans Lane, where they drew upon the local history and natural environment to inspire their songwriting. They invite you to experience these songs being born into a most intimate format.
They will also share a collection of Pauline’s songs and their shared repertoire, including a selection from her acclaimed show Take Me to Paris, and from Pauline’s collaboration with internationally-renowned composer Robert Davidson (Topology), which premiered at Brisbane Festival 2024.
Pauline’s work has been recognised through the Australian Folk Music Artist of the Year Award (2023), the Lord Mayor’s Fellowship (2024), and three Queensland Music Awards for Best Song (World). She regularly tours in Australia and Europe with her ensemble MZAZA and under her own name, undertaking a breadth of exciting musical and cross-cultural collaborations. A bit of a chameleon (perhaps from moving continents early in life), Pauline’s voice lends itself equally well to world, jazz, contemporary classical, folk, and popular genres, and she playfully explores these intersections in her collaborations and songwriting.
With a plethora of notches on her belt, Maudy paves the way for hungry minds eager to satiate their musical, cultural and intellectual appetites. - Scenestr
