    * From the Artist: My name is Jessica McCall and I am a broadcast journalism student at UniSA. I live in Gawler and I host, direct and produce BTS with Jess, a television program about creative arts for a youth audience, airing on Channel 44 Adelaide and Channel 31 Melbourne. The episodes feature local arts groups and opportunities for young people, interviews with young creatives around South Australia, and documentary style features showing how creative projects are made behind the scenes. Season 1 launched in April this year, and I am currently making Season 2 which will include explorations of more creative arts topics and ways for young people to get involved.

Season 1 is available on CTV+ (https://ctvplus.org.au/series/bts-with-jess/) or here on my YouTube channel. You can also find more information about my series on the website: btswithjess.com and on the Instagram and Facebook pages.

On July 8th, I'll be filming my watercolour painting workshop at the Gawler Youth Space, to be featured on an episode of BTS with Jess, about portraiture. Similarly to episodes in Season 1, this feature will include my interviews with willing participants, footage of the workshop taking place and the paintings being created. If people don't want to paint a portrait and would rather paint something else, that is all good. Just having a few participants do portraits will be fine. I suggest they bring a photograph or someone they'd like to paint (a friend, family member, a pet, movie character, etc.) and have it printed out or on an electronic device so that they can refer to it throughout the workshop.

This footage will be edited into an 8-minute segment to be featured on Season 2's Portraiture Episode, educating young people about the importance of creative arts, showing how they paint a portrait, and showcasing the Youth Space as an avenue for them to get involved. Season 2 is expected to air in October this year, but I'll be sure to keep everyone posted via email, and keep an eye on social media for photos from the workshop!

See you all at the workshop.

Any young individual present on the day can participate in the filming - a consent form will be sent via email after booking for those interested. The filming will have no impact on those who prefer not to take part; some individuals may have their artwork recorded while others may opt for only their face to be filmed.
