Water Think Tank: Maribyrnong Catchment Project Updates
Event description
Maribyrnong Catchment Project Updates
Join us for the next Water Think Tank session as we unpack new science and policy shaping the future of water in the Maribyrnong Catchment.
Our guest speaker Matthew Hudson (Southern Rural Water) will share insights from the recent Water Risks in the Upper Moorabool and Maribyrnong Catchments study, exploring how farm-dam proliferation and domestic & stock use are influencing water security and ecological health.
We’ll also examine the latest findings from the Greater Western Water/RMIT Jacksons Creek Interim Report (2025), which assessed the potential use of recycled water from the Sunbury Recycled Water Plant to support environmental flows. Preliminary results suggest that recycled water, when carefully managed, could safely supplement dry-season flows and help restore creek health without significant ecological risk.
