Water Think Tank: Shaping the Future of the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy

The Victorian Waterway Management Strategy (VWMS) shapes how waterway health is funded, protected, and governed across Victoria. It influences everything from:

• Planning protections for creeks and rivers

• Funding for local groups and catchment partnerships

• Integration of Traditional Owner values and leadership

The updated strategy (2026–2036) offers a rare opportunity to ensure community-led voices — like those in the Maribyrnong and its tributaries — are embedded in future waterway governance.

Join us for a special edition of the Water Think Tank focused on developing a collective community submission to the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy (VWMS).

This session will feature a briefing from a DEECA representative, followed by a discussion to identify what we think matters most to our waterways and communities.
