Learn and master the techniques of watercolour painting. The course will cater to individual experience levels, needs and expectations of each person.
Come and enjoy the colourful, fluid, free flowing properties of watercolour painting and see what you can create with this beautiful medium.
What will be covered in this course?
The 6-week course will cover a variety of subject matter and techniques including dry brush, wet on wet, wet on dry, masking, salt and card use.
The class will cover the traditional and new innovative techniques to use in water colour painting. Students will learn a variety of styles, brush handling and painting techniques and skills to further their knowledge of this medium.
By the end of this course students will:
Have learnt the basics of watercolour, developed new skills and feel confident in working with the medium.

REQUIRED MATERIALS
- Good quality watercolour brushes: Large “mop”, 2 or 3 rounds and flat brushes sizes 1, 6 and 12, rigger brush.
- Watercolour Paint: Basic set of high-quality paints primary red, blue, yellow, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, payne’s grey. Preferably tubes. Recommended brands: Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith, Art Spectrum, Derivan. (Mont Marte is not suitable).
- Watercolour Paper: good quality 300GSM medium or medium rough, minimum A3. Can be in a pad.
- HB pencil and Watercolour pencils, kneadable eraser
- Plastic or plate palette
- A5 Visual Arts diary
- 2 water containers
- Masking fluid, paper towels, masking tape, cosmetic natural sponge.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Donna has been involved in the practice and education of art for a number of years, she enjoys inspiring others to challenge themselves, try new things and to create original art works.
Some of her career highlights related to her arts training are:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts and teaching degree
- High School and TAFE Art Teacher for over 20 yearsÂ
- Senior Teacher in Art Department at Moorabbin College of TAFE
- Materials Production Officer for Ministry of Education VictoriaÂ
- Public Relations and Publicity Officer City of SpringvaleÂ
- Qualified floristÂ
Now she is retired from full time work and is keen to go back to her first interests of teaching and creating art. She is particularly keen on watercolour, drawing and acrylic painting but has experience in a number of art related fields.
