Waverley Community Garden Open Day - September 2026

Join us for the Waverley Community Garden Open Day on Saturday September 26 from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Our gardens are alive with hidden treasures and spring is a great time to discover some of them!

The Waverley Community Garden has been operating for more than 25 years and over this time has provided a home to many small birds and insects and is currently home to a population of native stingless bees and several native frog varieties.

Discover some of our native guests that call the Waverley Community Garden home at our community open day and join us for light refreshments.

10am - Native Bee talk and Split the Hive

Join native bee expert Nigel Sheridan as he talks about the joy of keeping bees and why it’s so important for our plant. Almost anyone can keep and care for bees and everyone benefits from the work they do.

If you have ever thought about having a beehive or are interested to see inside one, then this is your chance! During a hive split, custom made hives which are designed to be separated and opened and paired with an empty hive. The bees that move into the new hive quickly create a new colony whilst the remaining bees continue in their original colony.

Age Suitability: All Ages

While this is a FREE event, please ensure you register all attendees. Your registration will include both the Native Bee Talk + Split the Hive!

Accessibility: The community garden is a space which contains unpaved, varied surfaces and gradients.
