Wayapa Wuurrk Friday night circle Freshwater
Event description
Wayapa Wuurrk means to connect to country. We live in times of huge change, and yet, what never changes is our need to connect to the earth to have a strong anchor as we navigate change, connection to our other kin and each other. Wayapa was created to change thinking around how we view the idea of what it means to be well, to re imagine yourself as a human, with a focus on Indigenous planetary wisdom that includes learning how to develop a reciprocal relationship with our environment through the concept of ancient earth mindfulness. No matter how many gym sessions we do, steps we count or stretch our bodies into various postures, we can’t be well if Mother Earth is sick. In these sessions we will honour the 14 elements we pay respects to in Wayapa, share in circle our connection to them and embody our connection through either an embodied physical movement sequence suitable for all abilities or a guided earth meditation. We consider how we can take our practice " off the mat " to ensure the earth is well. The pathway forward holds an ancient heart beat . When we have a strong connection to the earth and when she is strong and healthy, so can we be.
Please wear comfortable loose clothing, bring a water bottle ( there will be filtered water on site), and a blanket to stay warm.
