Join us for the “Wayfinding for Treaty Partnership - Pasifika Series”, an introduction seminar designed specifically for Tangata Pasifika. This is a unique opportunity to explore the deep significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi for us as Pasifika peoples, navigating the question: What does Te Tiriti mean to us and for us?
As descendants of our shared Pacific ancestors, we are connected to Tangata Māori through our bloodlines, but it is through Te Tiriti that our feet stand on the whenua of Aotearoa. For many of us, understanding the history of Te Tiriti and the role of the Government in honouring (or not honouring) its obligations to Māori is essential for our future in this land.
At this pivotal moment in history, we must equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools necessary to become valued Treaty partners. Whether you're seeking to deepen your professional development, bridge knowledge gaps, or simply ask those long-held questions about Te Tiriti, this seminar will create a space where learning, curiosity, and dialogue are encouraged and celebrated.
Lead trainer Faumuina Felolini Maria Tafuna’i brings 20 years of experience working with and for Māori. Author of the widely circulated “17 Habits of a Valued Treaty Partner,” Faumuina's expertise has helped hundreds across Aotearoa integrate Te Tiriti into their work and lives. Her approach ensures that Pasifika feel at home, empowered to engage without judgement, and inspired to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi in meaningful ways.
Organisations that have participated in the Wayfinding for Treaty Partnership series include the Pasifika Funders Network, Auckland Council Connected Communities, Edmund Hillary Fellowship, NZ Coastguard, Te Pūtahitanga, Tāngata Tīriti, Laka, and Kia Kōtahi Ako.
Don’t miss this chance to navigate your own journey towards being a Treaty partner who truly embodies Te Tiriti.
Nau mai, haere mai – we welcome you.
