The CTE’s Curiosity in Community: Reading Wahi Wah! by Jo Chrona will meet six (6) times in the fall 2025 semester to explore the ideas shared in the text by Jo Chrona, the 2025 CapU Teaching and Learning Symposium Keynote Speaker. Each meeting will offer participants multiple opportunities to be curious about Jo’s words, ideas, examples, and reflect on how this understanding can connect to their practice.

Participation will entail being present for each other through active listening, reflection and being open to growth.

Reading and discussion schedule:

Wed Sept 24: Chapters 1 and 2

Wed Oct 8: Chapters 3 and 4

Wed Oct 22: Chapter 5

Wed Nov 5: Chapter 6

Wed Nov 19: Chapter 7

Wed Dec 3: Chapter 8 and sharing our learning

The text can be accessed as an eBook through the CapU Library: Wayi Wah! Indigenous Pedagogies: An Act for Reconciliation and Anti-Racist Education (https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/capilano-ebooks/detail.action?docID=6961908)

Participants in this community will:

  • Reflect upon and share what engaged their curiosity from the words, ideas, and examples, in the text.

  • Facilitate and support fellow participants’ curiosity through discussion and activities.

  • Collaborate to make connections between the text and classroom practices at CapU.

If you have any questions about this community and our work together, please contact Christina Lennox and/or Bhuvinder Vaid.
