WAYWARD – The Untold History of Women’s Snowboarding | NZ Premiere

For the first time in New Zealand, experience WAYWARD — the feature length documentary telling the untold story of the women who changed snowboarding forever.

From the pioneers who fought to be seen and taken seriously, to the riders redefining what is possible today, WAYWARD traces more than four decades of women’s snowboarding, uncovering the stories, personalities and pivotal moments that shaped the sport and its culture.

Directed by filmmaker Mia Lambson Brady, WAYWARD brings together rare archival footage and firsthand stories from the women who lived it — from early contest pioneers and industry trailblazers to the modern icons pushing progression to new levels.

Featuring some of the biggest names in women’s snowboarding, including Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Jess Kimura, Barrett Christy, Anna Gasser, Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, Jill Perkins, Robin Van Gyn and many more, the film explores not just how women progressed the sport, but how they helped change the culture around it.

This is a story of resilience, rebellion, friendship, progression and the fight for visibility — and a celebration of the women whose impact has too often been left out of snowboarding's history.

Come and celebrate the women who paved the way, the riders continuing to push it forward, and the next generation who will take it somewhere new.
