Event description

Comedy that hits home - in the best way.

Join us November 2nd at The Bug Theatre in Denver for a night of raw honesty and big laughs. Second Chance Comedy Presents: "We're All Doing Great" And Other Lies - A Standup Comedy Show about Life's Chaos is bringing a powerful lineup of comics tackling the messy, beautiful, and often hilarious realities of mental health, addiction, and being human.

This isn’t just a comedy show. It’s real stories, real struggles, and real healing told through the lens of stand-up. Whether you’ve dealt with anxiety, grief, recovery, or just the chaos of daily life, this night is for you.

Featuring:

  • Headliner: Ben Roy – If you aren't familiar with Ben Roy, he's been taking comedy audiences by storm since 2004, bringing an unparalleled energy and unique voice to the stage. Often compared to Lewis Black or Bill Hicks due to his passionate, ranting approach, Roy has a style that is definitively his own.

Roy cut his comedic teeth in Denver at the world famous Comedy Works. Since then, he has been selected to perform at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs Toronto, Just For Laughs Chicago, The New York Comedy Festival, Austin’s South by Southwest festival, and many more. Roy has been featured on HBO's Funny as Hell series; as well as on the Comedy Central shows Adam DeVine's House Party, Corporate, @midnight, and This Is Not Happening. Ben has also released four stand-up comedy albums and was listed as one of Variety's Top 10 Comics to Watch.

  • Featuring: Christie Buchele – Christie Buchele is a Denver-based standup comic who has built a name by turning the raw realities of living with a disability into sharp, fearless comedy. She’s been featured on Viceland’s Flophouse, Hidden America with Jonah Ray, Laughs on Fox, and NBC’s First Look, and has performed at top festivals including Limestone, High Plains, and 208 in Boise. As Director of Stand-Up at Denver’s Rise Comedy Theater, Christie champions new comics while continuing to crush audiences with her witty, biting style. A founding member of Denver’s powerhouse trio The Pussy Bros and co-host of the award-winning podcast Empty Girlfriend, Christie has opened for Josh Blue, Marc Maron, and David Cross, proving you can say almost anything with a smile—and a gimp in your step.

  • Hosted by: Joe Huisman – Producer of Second Chance Comedy, using his past with addiction to craft honest, gut-busting material

  • With: Aaron Fleck and Deb Lastowka – Two sharp and fearless voices bringing fresh perspectives on life, love, and everything in between

Whether you’re in recovery, in therapy, or just trying to keep it together, this show gets it.
