Event description

The LGBTIQA+ Community at Murdoch invites staff, students, and the community, both LGBTIQA+ community and allies, to join us for the 2025 Wear it Purple Day Morning Tea! Hear from staff and student speakers about practising effective allyship, accessing resources, and building capacity for supporting diverse, inclusive, and supportive communities. We will be launching the new Murdoch University LGBTIQA+ Ally Network, too!

The theme of Wear it Purple Day 2025 is Bold Voices, Bright Futures. Come and hear from some of Murdoch's bold voices supporting and representing the LGBTIQA+ community. Wear it Purple Day is an annual visibility event to foster supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for rainbow young people.

Date: Friday, August 29

Time: 10am-11am - Join us afterwards at the Discovery Way Entrance for a massive purple-hued group photo!

Location: Boola Katitjin South Street Campus, and Online, Whadjuk Noongar Boodja

Accessibility: This room is wheelchair accessible. The room has dimmable lights. Auto-transcription will be turned on. The event is hybrid, so you can join in person or online. We will have fidgets in the room, and you are welcome to engage however you feel comfortable in the space.

Dress Code: Wear something Purple! If you don't have anything purple, register here to tie-dye something the day before (Thursday, August 28) at The Den!

Who can come and is it free? Yes, it's free! And all MU Community members can attend.

Please contact pride@murdoch.edu.au or Em Readman for any questions or queries.

We acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which Murdoch University stands, and pay our respects to Elders both past and present. We acknowledge the enduring connection to land and community, and acknowledge that this always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
