Wear It Purple® Day Training Webinar: Intro to Supporting LGBTQIA+ Youth
Event description
Join the Minus18 Education Team for a live-streamed professional development webinar in the lead-up to Wear It Purple® Day!
On the last Friday of August, we celebrate Wear it Purple® Day – a day dedicated to celebrating LGBTQIA+ youth, and proudly standing with queer young people in the face of discrimination.
As Australia's charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth, we've devised a virtual training event to equip the whole community with the knowledge needed to support LGBTQIA+ young people and champion inclusion.
Whether you're levelling up your LGBTQIA+ allyship as a teacher, youth worker, service provider, workplace or even parent or family member, this in-depth training will equip you with the LGBTQIA+ knowledge you need.
Make a positive impact in your community on Wear it Purple® Day and beyond!
What we'll cover:
- An overview refresher on the differences between sex, gender and sexuality.
- Evidence based barriers LGBTQIA+ young people face.
- Pronouns - what are they and why are they important?
- How to apply inclusive language and create an inclusive culture.
- Practical tools and tips to support LGBTQIA+ young people.
Note: this event is 3.30pm AEST (we're in Victoria!)
Who is this for?
For adults who'd like to learn the basics of gender and sexuality, AND the basics of being an LGBTQIA+ ally. Whether you're applying your knowledge to a workplace, school, retail or service setting - we'll teach you all about the LGBTQIA+ basics in how you can level up your allyship towards LGBTQIA+ young people.
Is there a cost?
This is no taster session – this is our full-blown, renowned LGBTQIA+ inclusion professional training.
This training is usually valued to organisations from $1,300 per session. To celebrate Wear It Purple® Day, we are reducing the cost way down for individuals to $39-99 per person (excl. GST).
Each attendee will also receive a Digital Certificate of Training Completion via email after the session.
As well as receiving a live online training session, all proceeds from the ticket sales will go back to enabling our work continuing to champion and support LGBTQIA+ youth.
