Event description
Gathering indoors fireside among beautiful bushland for a Coil Weaving Workshop 🌿
Using locally abundant NZ flax lily leaves to weave small bowls ~ or which ever way it takes you.
I'll be harvesting, preparing plant fibres and providing all materials and guidance needed.
Sharing in the ethical harvesting and processing ways of this plant, how to begin the coil weaving method, continue on and finish a bowl.
Once having learnt this way, it's easy to continue weaving any shapes or creations you please - like earrings, small baskets, bowls and decorative pieces.
Weaving is a simple and soothing creative process that brings a beautiful remembrance of ancestral ways. Sitting on the earth, gathered in circle, threading stories of the land, sharing in connection and wild ways.
That can ignite a humble ember, creating with our hands with the original resource of nature like many before us.
Please bring
- A potluck meal or snacks to share together for lunch/afternoon tea
- Water bottle
- Comfortable clothing with layers (we will be setup inside by a cosy fire)
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land wurundjeri on which our workshop takes place. May we continue to give back with presence and reciprocity.
Location is on private land 6kms from Healesville
Please reach out if you have any questions
With warmth, Sal
