Weaving with Dandelions

Spring is finally here, and its the perfect time to pick extra-long Dandelions!

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to use Dandelion stems to create your very own small basket with the twined basketry technique.

Twining is one of many ancient weaving techniques that can be used to create both functional and sculptural pieces. These little baskets make great gifts, and foraging is a lovely way to further enrich your time outside.

You'll learn how to begin, build, shape, and finish your tiny basket, along with knowledge on how to forage, when to harvest, and how to prepare Dandelions for future projects.

Working at a small scale is a wonderful way to become familiar with the technique.

If you finish with time to spare, you'll also have the opportunity to learn a simple cordage-making technique to create a handle for your basket.

You’ll leave with an understanding of the twining process and a small handwoven piece to take home.
