    Event description

Join us to connect and create as we explore the wisdom within weaving with nature.Ā

Weaving is an ancient practice found throughout the world, connecting people to place. Dive into intertwining human nature, constructing stories, shared techniques and locally found materials from the land.

    Each weaving workshop explores:

    • FIBRES - Learn to identify, process and use local or native plants as your own natural fibres to weave with.Ā
    • TECHNIQUE - This is where the workshops vary, focusing on different techniques such as coil, twining and string making. Some are more suited to different time limitations and skill levels. They all give you a beautiful practice to make all sorts of creations. For example, you could make a basket, pendant necklace, toy animal, or even costumes. This workshop focuses on the COIL technique.A technique that follows the form of a spiral with a needle and a stitch. There are different ways to coil allowing for different functions. This is great for beginners unfamiliar with using their hands for craft.Ā
    • CIRCLE - Sit with others and allow your stories to unfold. Learn, listen and respond to each other.

    WHEN: Saturday 21st October, 9:30am -12:30pm

WHERE: Location details upon ticket, private address in Mollymook, NSW

WHO: Workshops are family friendly however due to the complexity of technique, teaching will be focused on the adults to learn first. Once they have learnt the basics, adults will be able to assist the younger ones.Ā

I honour all I have learnt with indigenous and non indigenous teachers throughout the world, gather insight from experimentation and my own depth of practice, to offer you a chance to peer into what your unique connection to nature may be asking for you to weave. I respect the cross cultural container that weaving offers as a place to find your own belonging and encourage you to seek out more teachers.Ā

Looking forward to connecting and creating with you all!
