    Event description

Meet Jeannie Baker - author, artist, filmmaker and advocate for the natural world.

Jeannie has 16 picture books to her name. She uses a collage technique integrated with drawing and painting to produce the artworks for her books, artworks which are frequently shown in separate exhibitions. Her unique process, in dialogue with nature, allows her work to communicate with people through different layers of meaning - the most obvious of which young children can understand, and the more subtle for older readers. In this presentation she will mostly talk about her new picture book, Desert Jungle, but also about other titles including Where the Forest Meets the Sea, a special 35th anniversary edition of which has just been published.

Jeannie will also share her understanding of the role of artist as advocate, along with the real danger of 'nature deficit disorder'.

You can find out more about Jeannie and her books here.
