Event description

Dr Penny Hay is an artist, educator and researcher, Professor of Imagination at Bath Spa University, and Founding Director House of Imagination. Her signature projects include School Without Walls and Forest of Imagination.

Penny is going to share with us how aesthetic, creative learning and artistic expression can help us to re-imagine approaches to learning in spaces of possibility.

These new spaces of possibility engage artists, researchers and educators in creative and reflective practice that places imagination, creativity and the arts at the heart of a future pedagogy. These spaces can be interrogated to distil a repertoire of creative pedagogical characteristics that optimise freedom, agency, choice and imagination.

Penny is strand leader for Creative Pedagogy in the Policy, Pedagogy and Practice Research Centre, and co-chair of the eARTh research group. Her doctoral research focused on children’s learning identity as artists. She was awarded an Honorary Fellowship at Arts University Plymouth and a Fellowship in Imagination at the Centre for Future Thinking, and she is a National Teaching Fellow and Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.
