Join us for a webinar on the key strategies and collaborative efforts needed to accelerate industrial decarbonization in Germany and New Zealand. As both nations aim for carbon neutrality by 2045 and 2050 respectively and seek to preserve international competitiveness in light of global decarbonization efforts, identifying the most efficient ways to transform established industries becomes imperative. This webinar will initiate a new series of exchanges between policy makers and business stakeholders on the matter of industrial decarbonization by first presenting the findings of a new comparative study and shining light on the differing industrial sectors and political frameworks between the two countries.

About the Webinar: In this short session, we will dive deep into the findings of our study and announce next cooperation activities to take place this year.

  • Emissions Impact: A detailed look at the industry sector’s contribution to national emissions.
  • Policy Effectiveness: An analysis of how different policy initiatives like the Emission Trading System (ETS) and energy efficiency regulations are shaping industrial practices in both countries.
  • Recommendations for Cooperation: Insights into potential bilateral exchange formats bringing together stakeholders from both countries seeking to share knowledge and learn from the respective best practice examples.

- Marie Münch, Analyst at adelphi’s energy programme

Marie Münch works as an Analyst at adelphi in the area of energy policy. Here she supports the implementation of Germany's energy partnerships and dialogues with the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Marie considers international cooperation, mutual learning and the creation of shared, positive visions to be central to the success and acceleration of the global energy transition.

- Hannes Seitz, Analyst at adelphi’s energy Programme

Hannes Seitz works as an Analyst at adelphi on international cooperation in the field of energy policy. His focus is on implementing the energy partnerships with Japan, Korea, Australia as well as the energy dialogue with New Zealand. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the partnerships aim to advance the transformation of the respective energy systems towards climate neutrality through intensive cooperation.

The German and New Zealand Embassies have been invited to share a few remarks around the importance of this cooperation.
