Advances in climate attribution science mean the impacts of fossil fuel projects can increasingly be traced and quantified. In October 2025, Abram et al. published a landmark study that, for the first time, quantified the climate impacts of an individual fossil fuel project. The Carbon Impacts Tracer builds on that methodology, making it accessible for anyone who wants to understand more about the impact of fossil fuel projects.
