Webinar: First, Do No Harm: Recognising & Responding to Disordered Eating in Natural Health Practice on Wednesday 19th May 2027 - 7:00pm - 8:30pm AEST
Where: Online
CPE: 1.5 CPE points
Disordered eating frequently presents in natural health settings under the guise of gastrointestinal dysfunction, hormonal imbalance, metabolic concerns, food intolerances, or weight-related goals. Without appropriate screening and clinical awareness, well intentioned dietary or supplement protocols may unintentionally reinforce restrictive behaviours and contribute to harm.
This presentation explores how disordered eating and eating disorders commonly present in naturopathic and nutrition practice, including early behavioural, cognitive, and physiological red flags. Participants will learn how to identify higher-risk presentations, recognise when under-fuelling may be contributing to symptoms, and apply practical frameworks to support safer, scope-aware clinical decision-making.
The session is evidence-informed, clinically practical, and designed to help practitioners feel more confident navigating this increasingly common but often overlooked area of practice.

Presenter: Casey Conroy - MNutrDietJ BHSc{Nat)J BVSc{Hons)
I am a Dietitian (APD), Naturopath, and Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician with 15 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults with eating disorders, disordered eating, chronic dieting, body image concerns, and the overlap with GI, hormonal and metabolic presentations.
Alongside my clinical work, I provide practitioner education and supervision in disordered eating-informed care. I am the creator of DECIDE: Scope-Safe Disordered Eating Practice for Natural Health Practitioners, an 8-week training program supporting naturopaths, nutritionists and herbalists to recognise disordered eating earlier, respond within scope, and reduce unintended harm in clinical practice.
My clinical approach integrates evidence-based nutrition therapy, naturopathic principles, and client-centred counselling within a weight-neutral, trauma-informed, neuroaffirming framework. Alongside my professional training, my lived experience with eating disorder recovery, as well as 20 years of yoga teaching and group facilitation, informs a compassionate, practical and non-judgemental approach to both client care and practitioner education.
