Event description

Younger people are watching broadcast tv and radio in fewer numbers each year, while social media use is on the rise. So what does this mean for us who are trying to share public education messaging around road safety?

The 100 to Zero Project was an innovative social media initiative with the goal of providing information to support Vision Zero (zero road deaths) in 100 seconds or less. This project used popular online platforms - Instagram, YouTube and TikTok to reach mainstream audiences, including young people. While social media has enormous potential, with huge reach, share-ability and fast production times; there are also an array of challenges: creating for algorithms, competition, and making content that works.

This webinar is hosted by Dr Julian O’Shea, an academic, transport expert and social media creator, who will share case studies and key findings about how to effectively design and deliver social educational social media campaigns.

This webinar will focus on the Australian context, with a focus on the experiences from the 100 to Zero Project. It will be recorded and made freely available on the 100 to Zero Project website (100tozero.org). This webinar is open to all, but is particularly targeted at those interested and involved in road safety, including policy, education, advocacy and design. The link will be sent out to registered participants one day in advance of the event.

This webinar and project is supported by the Australian Government as part of the National Road Safety Action Grants Program.
