The Pelvis Series

Pelvic pain disorders are a common group of conditions that affect women at a similar rate to asthma or migraines. 

This webinar series aims to improve your confidence and skill in treating women with pelvic pain, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Part 1- Pelvic Pain Disorders

 The webinar will review the terminology and pathophysiology of pelvic pain conditions and you will learn common patterns of musculoskeletal and neurological adaptations to these conditions. There will be a focus on effective body work techniques to support your clients suffering with pelvic pain.

At the end of this webinar you will:

· Improve your understanding of the terminology and pathophysiology of common pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis, genitopelvic pain disorder, primary dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain

· Understand some of the common treatments for pelvic pain and their side effects

· Understand the common pattern of musculoskeletal and nervous system responses to pelvic pain within a modern pain science framework.

· Learn how to apply effective treatments to achieve a positive outcome for patients presenting with pelvic pain disorders

· Know when to refer your client on for further imaging or intervention.


Part 2- The Pregnant Pelvis

The webinar will review the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the pelvic girdle and you will learn about the physiological changes happening at the pelvis and abdominal wall. There will be a focus on effective body work techniques to achieve optimal outcomes for your pregnant clients.

At the end of this webinar you will :

  • Understand the functional anatomy and basic biomechanics of the pelvic girdle
  • Improve your knowledge of pregnancy-related changes affecting the pelvic girdle and abdominal wall
  • Learn how to apply effective treatments to achieve a positive outcome for patients presenting with pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain
  • Know when to refer your client on for further imaging or intervention.

Part 3- Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD)

    PFD are a group of common conditions affecting 1 in 3 women. The webinar will review the pathophysiology of common pelvic health conditions and the latest evidence for their management. There will be a focus on effective body work techniques to achieve optimal outcomes for your clients with PFD.

    At the end of this webinar you will :

    · Improve your knowledge of the pathophysiology and treatments for pelvic floor disorders (PFD)

    · Learn how to apply effective treatments to achieve a positive outcome for patients presenting with PFD

    · Know when to refer your client on for further imaging or intervention.

    Ruth Schubert

    Ruth Schubert is a physiotherapist with 20 years clinical experience with a unique background in both musculoskeletal and pelvic health. 

    She has toured the country and the world with state and national sporting teams and has a specialist interest in pelvic health with extensive advanced training in pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and sexual dysfunction. 

    Ruth is a regular presenter and writer on women’s pelvic health and is passionate about supporting women through their life stages.

    She is on the Clinical Advisory Committee for Endometriosis Australia, is a PINC certified cancer rehabilitation physiotherapist, and has a professional certificate in pessary management of pelvic organ prolapse (UniSA). 

    Ruth believes the physiotherapy profession has an important role in optimising women’s experience in the transition through menopause and works full time in women’s pelvic health at Alana healthcare.

    Please be advised that cancellations made up to one month before a scheduled event will be processed without a penalty. Cancellations made 2-4 weeks prior to a schedule event will be subject to a charge of 50% of the original ticket cost. Cancellations made 2 weeks or less prior to a scheduled event will not be entitled to any refund. However a full refund will be available to members for any events that have been cancelled or any future events that maybe cancelled due to COVID-19.
