Join us for our monthly deep dive into the National Palliative Care Standards, where we explore one Standard in detail and discuss ways to embed it into everyday practice. This month, we focus on Standard Six: Grief Support.
Grief is a normal response to loss, but every person's experience is unique. Standard Six recognises the importance of preparing families and carers for what to expect, providing information about loss and grief, supporting people through bereavement, and ensuring timely referral when additional support is needed.
Our panellists will share practical examples of how they prepare and support families and carers before and after the death of a person, highlighting approaches that can be adapted within your own service or organisation. As always, this webinar is an opportunity to learn from colleagues across Australia, share practical examples and explore how the National Palliative Care Standards can support high-quality care in everyday practice.
The National Palliative Care Standards for Specialist Palliative Care Providers (Edition 5.1, 2024) set a vision for compassionate, high-quality palliative care. Complementing these, the National Palliative Care Standards for All Health Professionals and Aged Care Services (2022) recognise that palliative care is provided across diverse health and aged care settings. The Palliative Care Self-Assessment (PaCSA) supports services to reflect on current practice, identify opportunities for improvement and drive continuous quality improvement.
