Webinar: Supermarket plastics in 2026 - Who’s cleaning up their act?
Description
It’s been another big year for AMCS in our campaign to stop Australia's biggest supermarkets from fuelling plastic pollution. We teamed up with ethical share trading platform SIX and sustainable superannuation fund Future Super to continue building pressure on the supermarkets to reduce their contributions to plastic pollution.
AMCS is about to release its latest report assessing supermarkets on plastic use, and Coles and Woolworths are holding their Annual General Meetings, so it's time to look at which supermarkets are making progress and who's falling behind.
Join us for a free online recap of the year’s work across our shared campaign, followed by a Q&A with campaign experts.
Speakers
Tara Jones, Program Manager (Plastics & Packaging), Australian Marine Conservation Society
Tara will share insights from the "Unwrapped: Plastic use in Australian supermarkets" campaign at AMCS. She'll discuss the latest scorecard assessing major supermarkets, Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, and Metcash (IGA). She’ll share what’s next after attending the recent Annual General Meetings for Coles and Woolworths to ask about their progress to cut plastics, and outline why it’s important to stem the flow of plastic pollution entering our oceans.
Phoebe Rountree, Campaigns Manager, SIX
Phoebe will update on SIX's supermarkets campaign for the year. She’ll provide an analysis of the activities in 2026, and share how the campaign can build pressure into 2027 and beyond to end plastic pollution.
Emily Flood, Chief Impact Officer, Future Super
Emily will reflect on how a purpose-driven super fund can use its influence to create positive environmental outcomes. She'll share practical examples of how Future Super engages companies on issues such as climate action and plastic pollution, the challenges and wins she’s seen along the way, and the opportunities Future Super is seizing in our current campaign.
