Description

As our climate changes, Canberra will increasingly face more heat waves made worse by the urban heat island effect, which is exacerbated by poor design and over-development. Heat waves can become heat emergencies that can be deadly, particularly for disadvantaged parts of the community.

Join us for this discussion with Emma Bacon, founder and Executive Director of Sweltering Cities to discuss how extremes of heat will effect Canberra and what we can do about it.

The Conservation Council ACT Region is the ACT region’s leading environmental advocacy organisation and hub for community groups. Our mission is to protect nature and create a safe climate future in the ACT and region.

Since 1981 we have been at the centre of the region’s most important wins for wildlife, bushland and communities, encompassing over 40 member groups.

We are a non-profit, non-government organisation that run campaigns, promote and upskill local groups, undertake research, advocate passionately, and engage and inform our community.

Our belief is in the power of collective action to create change.
