Webinar Ten: Citizen science for social impact
Event description
While physically isolated, people are increasingly connecting and engaging through citizen science during this season of unprecedented disasters.
In this impact2020 webinar, researchers from the Centre for Social Impact UNSW and leaders from the Australian Citizen Science Association will discuss how participatory science can empower impacted people and communities in disaster risk reduction, response and recovery.
They'll also discuss how citizen science can have a social impact - influencing policy, environmental governance and public support - and build capacity for community engagement and policy development.
Examples discussed during the webinar will span health and environmental sciences, ranging from Breaking Good to the Environment Recovery Project: Australian Bushfires. Â
Please note:Â This webinar starts at 11:00am (AEST) and registrations will close an hour before.
Recordings will be emailed to attendees a few weeks after the webinar and later in the year we’ll be making them more publicly available.
This impact2020 webinar is a free event presented by the Centre for Social Impact (CSI).
