Webinar Thirty Two: Social impact assessment during times of crisis

Social impact assessment is not a straight-forward gig at the best of times, let alone in times of disruption, such as bushfires or national health emergencies. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic many programs and initiatives have not been able to be rolled out as planned. What does this mean for their evaluation? And how can we separate the impact of a program from that of the pandemic?

your job your way is a long-term youth unemployment pilot project (July 2018 – June 2020) that entered its final stages as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, and is an example of a program where evaluation has not been able to take place as originally planned.

The program implementation had to undergo changes, and there were questions about whether and how program data could be collected. The interim evaluation showed promising results, but what does the changed environment mean to the evaluation and what will the final evaluation tell us?

In this impact2020 webinar, CSI UNSW's Dr Ioana Ramia and Dr Ariella Meltzer, with Brendan Bourke from yourtown, will discuss challenges and opportunities for program implementation and social impact assessment in times of crisis, including collecting data in times of crisis and separating the impact of the program from that of the pandemic.
