Webinar Three: Digital inclusion - Current challenges and future implications

This event has passed Register

Event description

Australia is experiencing the rapid digital transformation of economic, government, cultural and social systems due to the physical distancing requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under these conditions, we are seeing an amazing upswing in digital creativity; however, the impacts of the existing digital divide on social inequalities are also being amplified. The demand for rapid digital transformation is also generating uneven outcomes for organisations.

Addressing digital inequality at both the personal and organisational level has never been more important.

In this impact2020 webinar, we’ll hear from two of Australia’s leading digital inclusion academics, Dr Chris Wilson and Professor Jo Barraket from CSI Swinburne.

Drawing on findings from the Australian Digital Inclusion Index and Giving Australia 2016 Report they will explore what our current situation means for the digitally excluded - the 2.5 million people in Australia lacking effective and affordable internet access and digital skills - and how this rapid digital transformation is deepening social inequality.

Please note: This webinar starts at 2:30pm (AEST) and registrations will close an hour before.

Recordings will be emailed to attendees a few weeks after the webinar and later in the year we’ll be making them more publicly available.

This impact2020 webinar is a free event presented by the Centre for Social Impact (CSI).
