Weekly Growers Group - Fridays at Kensington Native Nursery 9th Oct
Description
Join us every Friday to give the seedlings we sowed a couple of months ago the TLC they need to get ready for their forever homes out in the paddock.
You will learn how to prepare native seedlings for the planting season and how to transplant small seedlings, how to spot pests and diseases and how to treat them.
It's great hands-on work in a relaxed atmosphere with nice and knowledgeable people. We will work under cover, but please be prepared for the cold weather.
TreeProject gets urban and rural communities working together to put trees back on the land. Our network of trained volunteers grows indigenous seedlings for rural landholders and Landcare groups who need our help with revegetation. With almost 3 million indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses planted so far and a record number of 162,000 scheduled for this year we are passionate about empowering the community to support biodiversity in any way they can; whether that be growing indigenous species in their urban gardens, volunteering to grow indigenous seedlings for TreeProject or dropping in to our weekly community growers group to help us sow and care for our indigenous seedlings at our nursery. By choosing to plant indigenous species, you can support local wildlife, and contribute to the restoration of Victoria’s precious ecosystems.
What to Bring:
1) Warm clothes and sturdy shoes.
2) Water bottle and your lunch.
3) Gardening gloves.
Thank you for supporting TreeProject!
