Ready to grow your leadership and find your place in the WELA movement?

WELA 101 is an interactive introduction to the WELA ecosystem. It is designed to build connections, expand your network, and help you get involved in our many moving parts.

You’ll:

• Meet WELA staff and community members

• Connect with others through guided conversation

• Discover pathways to get involved—from programs and advocacy, to community spaces and collective giving

• Learn what WELA can offer you to support your next steps

This session is designed to be participatory and relational, with time for discussion, breakout conversations, and Q&A. Whether you’re looking to learn, connect, contribute, or collaborate, there’s a place for you!

We are a community of women and gender-diverse people transforming Australia’s response to our environmental and climate crises

Leadership in Australia and across the world has failed to respond to the mounting environmental and climate crises we face. The same outdated leadership approaches have enabled, and continue to fuel environmental destruction, inequality, and the marginalisation of diverse voices.

International evidence consistently shows that when women are at the decision-making table, environmental outcomes improve. Women are already disproportionately impacted by climate change—facing increased violence, homelessness, and poverty in its wake. Yet, their voices and perspectives remain underrepresented and undervalued in existing climate and environmental policymaking in Australia.

WELA is changing that. As Australia’s fastest growing community of women and gender-diverse environmental and climate leaders, WELA is on a mission to transform our response to these crises.

How? By connecting, training, influencing and funding women’s and gender-diverse leadership.

WELA has shaped hundreds of high-impact environmental and climate leaders through our programs, workshops, and events. When the breadth of our work is seen together, a bigger story of impact begins to emerge: we’re creating a ripple effect of diverse, empowered, and connected voices driving meaningful systemic change.

Why? Because our climate and environmental crises demand bold, inclusive, and collaborative leadership. Responsive leadership that listens to communities for what matters most. Active leadership that gets tangible results towards a sustainable, equitable future. This is the leadership that will unlock the solutions we so desperately need
