Welcome Baby to Country Ceremony
You're Invited – Welcome Baby to Country Ceremony
To celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025, Uncle Rick Nelson and Aunty Kerri Douglas, along with Mount Alexander Shire Council and Dhelkaya Health, warmly invite you to a Welcome Baby to Country ceremony.
Djaara Elders will perform a traditional Welcome to Country blessing for babies under 2 years born in the Shire, welcoming them to Country and community.
This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” marks 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. It celebrates the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the enduring legacy of our ancestors.
Date: Wednesday 9th July, 2025
Time: 10am
Location: Former Tea Rooms, Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, Downes Rd, Castlemaine.
This event is open to all families with a baby aged 0-24 months born in Mount Alexander Shire, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with a child aged 0-5 years. We warmly welcome you to attend as we celebrate Country, culture, and the future generation.
