Welcoming Tour 4 - Visit the Marae, November 2024

This tour (part 4: to Hukanui Marae) is one of the four welcoming tours organised by Shama for people who want to explore more about Hamilton's public, cultural and natural spaces and community services in Hamilton. It is also a chance for newcomers to connect with the Community and build lifelong friendships. "Let's Feel at Home, Settle in, and Embrace the Heartbeat of Our City".

Friday 1 November 2024: Welcoming Tour to Hukanui Marae

10 am: Meet at the Shama office at 8 Liverpool Street, Hamilton Central, to start the tour to Hukanui Marae - A famous historical place in Hamilton, New Zealand.

10:30 pm : Participate in Porwhiri- a famous cultural practice of The people of The Land (Tangata Whenua), and have a conversation/korero about history and the treaty of Waitangi (Te tiriti o Waitangi)

13:00: Enjoy kai (food) at the Marae
