Who We Are – History and Bio
Well Guardian Corporation is the oldest and most experienced nation-wide well warranty firm in the world for residential water wells. Founded in 2002 and with a presence in many of the lower forty-eight states, we have a well-balanced portfolio of warranty and repair products, with our best-known product, the WelGard® Premium Protection Plan.
WelGard® provides complete protection against all well failures due to wear-and-tear of well components as well as protecting the shifting aquifers supplying water to each well.
The President and General Manager is Gary Baker, one of the firm’s original founders, working on legal, operational and distribution alternatives and solutions even preceding our first sales in September 2002. Mr. Baker earned his bachelor’s degree Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University; he went on to obtain his license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), which he retains to this day.
After more than a dozen years with Ernst & Young (then Ernst & Whinney), Mr. Baker has spent decades taking on the challenges of financial management, including for a $2.5 Billion division of a national health insurer in the Southeast, with his headquarters in Nashville TN.
In all roles, these firms were able to grow/scale, both soundly and profitably, by offering the most innovative solutions in their markets at a fair price.
Mr. Baker is most proud of Well Guardian’s integrity, which is reflected in the ability to retain its Members (Customers are called Members because they are treated like family) at a level exceeding 90% per year, indicating a high level of satisfaction with our services. This tone is established at all levels of management and is also reflected in our 5 star Google reviews, and our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We are proud of our relationships with Members, our team of Service Partners, as well as membership in the National Groundwater Association (www.ngwa.org).
An entrepreneurial financial executive, Mr. Baker has been offering educational and training courses about wells for homeowners, realtors, and home inspection professionals since Well Guardian’s founding.
Mr. Baker will be the primary presenter in connection with this training series.
