Well Fed @ RMIT RUSU
Event description
Hello RMIT students and welcome to Well Fed Friday's at RMIT! Just Food Collective's Well Fed: A Student Food Project is returning to RMIT in Semester Two 2024! This project is proudly supported by the RMIT University Student Union. Â
What is Well Fed: A Student Food Project?
Well Fed is funded by the City of Melbourne until June 2025 and Well Fed aims to support students and reduce their food insecurity through an ongoing series of food activities, advocacy, and future planning.
The Well Fed model has four distinct components and key interventions:
- We supply students with free food that's joyful, nourishing and deliciousÂ
- We hire student interns and induct volunteers to create a network of friends who can gain work experienceÂ
- We raise awareness of student food security through localised university campaigns and state-wide advocacy Â
- We create free programs and educational tools for students to learn cooking, eating and growing skillsÂ
What food will be at Well Fed @ RMIT?
Last year we switched up our menus every week (Patrick and Savannah - the project coordinators - are chefs after all!) and we employed a student intern and had amazing volunteers work with us too! Well Fed is like coming to a free cafe, hanging out with your friends and making new ones, and importantly eating great food! Sometimes we will also have grocery items like fresh fruit and veg and pantry staples.Â
So come eat with us! We'll be in the RUSU Activity Space between 12 pm- 1.30pm (or until we run out!)Â on Friday's during semester. Give us a follow on our Instagram, or reach out to us at hello@justfood.org.au if you want to volunteer or need more information.Â
This event is free but registration is essential! Plus, so we can keep up with food waste and so other students don't miss out, if you fail to attend two weeks in a row you will not be permitted to attend the next two Friday events.Â
Please note, this event is only for RMIT students.
