Education Political Panel - Wellington
Description
To help teachers, parents, whānau, and communities make informed choices in the 2026 General Election, PPTA Te Wehengarua Wellington Region is hosting an election forum. Education spokespeople from across the political spectrum have been invited to to set out and explain their vision for education in New Zealand.
Doors will open at 5.45pm, with welcomes and introductions at 6pm. The formal part of the evening will finish at 7.30pm with light refreshments being served.
Politicians will be asked pre-written questions then given time to respond - in a predetermined random order. Politicians have been informed that they will not have the opportunity to read out pre-written pitches. We also aim for there to be time for audience questions from our question box - make sure to arrive early to get your questions in!
Anyone is welcome to attend, but you must register through Humanitix. This event is run by volunteers and members of the Post-Primary Teachers Association Wellington Region. PPTA is the professional association and union of secondary teachers and principals in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Emma Chatterton, Candidate for Papakura - National Party
Emma is a candidate for Papakura. She is currently a senior advisor to Education Minister Erica Stanford, and has experience teaching in the UK and New Zealand.
Ginny Andersen, Education Spokesperson - Labour Party
Ginny is a Labour list MP based in Hutt South and is the daughter of primary school teachers. She is the current education spokesperson for the NZ Labour Party.
Lawrence Xu-Nan, Education Spokesperson- Green Party
Lawrence has worked in the tertiary education sector for more than a decade and is the Green Party spokesperson for education.
Andy Foster, Education Spokesperson - New Zealand First
Andy Foster is a New Zealand First List MP based in Wellington. He is currently the Spokesperson for Education, Chairperson of the Transport & Infrastructure Select Committee and a member of the Governance & Administration Select Committee.
