Wellington WikiCon 2026
Event description
WikiCon is the annual gathering for editors of Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikisource, Wikimedia Commons, and other Wikimedia platforms. Organised by Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand (WANZ), our local chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, this conference brings together Wikimedians from across the country. In 2026, WikiCon will be held in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
This event will provide opportunities for editors and contributors to connect face-to-face, helping to build collaborative relationships. The conference will also provide opportunities for editors and contributors to share and develop their skills and knowledge in working with Wikimedia projects. All are welcome, from complete beginners to highly experienced editors.
Conference sessions will be run on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May 2026, with informal welcome activities kicking off on the afternoon of Friday 1 May.
