The Wellington Puppetry Festival returns this spring to fill the Vogelmorn Precinct with Puppetry and Wonder! A family-first celebration brought to life by our own community of puppeteers, storytellers and makers.

The weekend will feature:

Junk Puppet Carnival

Drop in for our free morning outdoor Junk Puppet Carnival on the Vogelmorn Green, with hands-on Junk puppet-making, Recycled paper crafts, the Odditorium, Roaming puppets, Little Landscapes show, Teatro Lambe Lambe, Cafe, Street musicians, Chill zone for mums with bubs and even an Ice cream van!

Puppetry Shows

We've curated an offering of six exceptional puppet shows from local and international puppeteers. There are shows to suit all ages, teens included! We are also very excited to be able to offer an audio-described show

Workshops

Come learn something new! There are seven workshops on offer ranging from fabrication techniques to puppeteering skills to incorporating accessibility strategies in your show to a discussion on the importance of puppetry to bring peace in areas experiencing armed conflict. Truly something for everyone!

Saturday Evening Cabaret

An evening of cutting-edge puppetry entertainment, including our freshly commissioned work by Joey Sheppard, a scintillating puppet cabaret and Puppet Films, all rounded off with a gourmet dinner.
