Description

Connect to Nature: Wellness Walks

Take a moment to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. These ranger-led wellbeing walks offer an opportunity to experience local parks and reserves in a different way. Combining gentle exploration with mindfulness and nature connection practices, each walk is designed to help participants pause, observe, reflect and engage with the environment through all their senses.

Guided by the landscape, weather and season, we will take a slow-paced journey through some of Auckland's special natural places. Along the way, you'll learn about local ecology, biodiversity and conservation efforts while taking part in activities that encourage presence, curiosity and connection.

You may find yourself listening to birdsong, noticing the textures of leaves and bark, learning about native species, practising mindful breathing beneath the canopy, or simply taking a quiet moment to appreciate the sights, sounds and scents of the forest. Every walk is different, responding to the unique character of the place and the people attending.

These experiences invite participants to notice more deeply and consider how spending time in nature can support mental and physical wellbeing. Research continues to show that time spent outdoors can help reduce stress, improve mood and strengthen our sense of connection to both nature and community. Whether you're looking to learn more about the natural world, take time for yourself, meet like-minded people, or simply enjoy a gentle walk outdoors, these sessions provide a welcoming space to breathe, notice, learn and connect.

Suitable for adults with moderate fitness and mobility levels. Walks are completed at a relaxed pace with regular stops for observation, discussion and reflection.
