Welsh Shooting cordially invites you to participate in the Welsh International Airgun Championships 2026 including competitions for Air Rifle and Air Pistol which will take place from the 29th October 2026 to the 1st November 2026.
The Championships will take place at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, Wales.
Qualification stages will be held in the Main Hall, with the Finals taking place in the Jubilee Hall.
We warmly welcome athletes, coaches and officials from Wales and beyond to Cardiff and look forward to sharing four days of exciting international airgun competition.

AirOShoot

Welsh Shooting is pleased to be a partner with four other European competition organisers which form AirOShoot.
The competitions on Friday (Seniors) and Saturday (Juniors) are qualifying competitions for the AirOShoot SuperFinal which is planned to take place in 2027.

Entry Deadline: 11.55pm - Sunday 11th October 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
Championship
Three days of competition with separate Individual Olympic Finals on two days and a mixed team final on one day.
Electronic targets will be used for all Events and the Olympic Finals.
The Open Welsh Championships will be on Sunday in one class, eg. Senior and Junior athletes will compete against each other.
The Confined Welsh Championships will be shot concurrently with the Open Championships.
This is a British Shooting nominated meeting.
Competition Summary
Friday 30th October through to Sunday 1st November, there will be 4 details a day with 56 firing points available per detail.
Relays will comprise the following:
• Air Rifle Women, Junior Women and WSPS SH1 classified Women (R2)
• Air Rifle Men, Junior Men and WSPS SH1 classified Men (R1)
• Air Pistol Women, Junior Women and WSPS SH1 classified Women (P2)
• Air Pistol Men, Junior Men and WSPS SH1 classified Men (P1)
Competitions for Disabled Athletes
Disabled athletes will be required to provide evidence of their WSPS National or International Classification or NSRA dispensation.
In addition to the inclusive events above for SH1 P1, P2, R1 and R2, there will be events for SH1 R3 and SH2 R4 and R5.
Relays will comprise the following:
Thursday 29th October, Air Rifle Mixed R3 & R5 (Comp 1)
Friday 30th October, Air Rifle Mixed R3 & R5 (Comp 2)
Saturday 31st October, Air Rifle Mixed R4 (Comp 1)
Sunday 1st November, Air Rifle Mixed R4 (Comp 2)
There will be no finals for the R3, R4 & R5 competitions.
Mixed Teams
The Mixed Teams will be determined by random draw. If there is an unequal number of male and female athletes, remaining athletes will be drawn as pairs.
If there is an uneven number of athletes the remaining athlete will become a reserve to back fill an athlete that withdraws prior to the start of the detail.

Rules & Regulations
All the events will be conducted according to the current ISSF and WSPS Rules and Regulations as far as is reasonably practicable.
Equipment control will be available. Random checks will be carried out after every qualification event and checks will be carried out prior to all finals.
Disabled athletes must have either an WSPS International or National classification relevant to the event they are entering.
Juniors - ISSF Rule 3.7.4.12 - Athletes will remain as Juniors until the 31st December of the year in which they become 21 years of age.

Entry Fees
Championship
One entry fee of £90.00 will cover entry for all three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and includes unofficial training on Thursday.
Please note that there is no discount if you shoot only one or two days.
There is no additional fee for the Mixed Team competitions.
Competitions for Disabled Athletes
The entry fee for disabled athletes in the R3, R4 & R5 competitions will be £50.00 for each category (2 competitions).
Coaches and Spectators
Coach Accreditation - Coaches who require access to the field of play must purchase a Coach Accreditation ticket. Accreditation costs £5 and will provide authorised access to the field of play during the Championships. Coach accreditation is limited and should be purchased in advance.
Spectators - Spectator entry is free, but spectators should register for a ticket in advance. Spectator tickets are subject to venue capacity and should be booked before attending. Spectators will have access to designated viewing areas.
Loaders - Athletes requiring loaders will be issued with an additional back number for their loader. The athlete requests this in their entry form.

- Where can I stay during the Championships?
There are no official event hotels for these Championships. Competitors and accompanying guests are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and travel.
Cardiff offers a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets, including hotels, guest houses, self-catering apartments and accessible accommodation.

If you require accessible accommodation, we encourage you to book as early as possible to ensure the best choice and availability.
- How do I get to the Championships?
The Championships will take place at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, located close to Cardiff city centre.
The venue is easily accessible by car, rail and public transport. Cardiff Central Railway Station is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the venue, with regular services from across Wales and the UK. Local bus services also operate close to Sophia Gardens.

- Where can I buy food during the Championships?
The Sport Wales National Centre has two on-site cafés.
Hwb Café serves meals throughout the day, while Hwb Bach offers drinks and snacks.
Opening times may vary during events, so we recommend checking availability on the day.
Additionally there are many pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the Sport Centre.
- Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, parking is available at the Sport Wales National Centre but please be aware, parking is limited and the car park can be very busy at times.
Additional public car parks are located within walking distance. Parking charges may apply.
We recommend allowing plenty of time for your journey and, where possible, checking parking options in advance.
- What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Entry fees include Humanitix booking fees, which are non-refundable. If you cancel your entry, 50% of the entry fee will be refunded to you. Welsh Shooting will cover the Humanitix booking fee.
If the Championships are cancelled by Welsh Shooting, all entry fees will be refunded in full.
- What facilities are available at the venue?
The Sport Wales National Centre offers a range of facilities for athletes, coaches and spectators, including:

On-site café facilities offering food, snacks and drinks
Spectator and waiting areas
Free Wi-Fi
Accessible facilities and parking
The venue is fully accessible, with step-free access to the main areas and accessible toilets available.
Please note that some facilities may have restricted access during the Championships or may operate at different times depending on the event schedule.
- Do I need a shooting classification to compete?
If you wish to enter a WSPS Para Sport category, you must meet the relevant eligibility requirements and hold the appropriate WSPS National or International Classification in accordance with WSPS regulations or an NSRA Dispensation certificate. Evidence of classification will be required at registration.
If you are unsure whether you are eligible for a particular category, please contact the Organising Committee before entering.
- What equipment can I use?
Athletes should bring their own equipment required for their chosen events. Equipment must comply with the relevant WSPS and ISSF Rules and Regulations.
If you have any questions about equipment requirements, please contact Welsh Shooting before the Championships.
- When will the final timetable be available?
The competition timetable will be published following the close of entries.

- When should I arrive at the venue?
Athletes should arrive in good time before their scheduled competition to allow sufficient time for registration and preparation.
Athlete call to the line will take place 30 minutes before the match start time.
- Do coaches need to register?

- When do entries close?
Entries for the Welsh International Airgun Championships 2026 close on Sunday 11 October 2026 at 11:55pm.
Athletes are encouraged to complete their entry before the deadline to allow sufficient time for event planning and scheduling. Late entries will not be considered.
