Instructors
Zac Skinner
Zac started out at school playing AFL, rugby and basketball and then from the age of 6 discovered the world of solo dancing and has had training in breakdancing, hip hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical and acro. His dad Allan Skinner is an experienced Modern Jive dancer and what started out as a fatherly “bribe” to come to a Modern Jive class in order to get a 13th birthday party turned into so much more!
Allan was later one of the Co-Founders of Raw Connection and eventually got Zac into West Coast Swing and the rest is history. Zac completed his Cert IV in dance and became one of the best West Coast Swing dancers, teachers and coaches in Australia and then went on to make his mark internationally and continues to do so with his dance partner Maddy who he teamed up with in 2015. He is known for his infectious energy, good vibes and love of social dancing, but when the time comes; he is a true professional.
Maddy Platts
Maddy is originally a Perth girl and started dance lessons in the living room with her dad as soon as she could walk. She started ballet and jazz at age 6 and soon began focussing on other solo styles such as hip hop, lyrical and contemporary. In her early teens, she discovered partner dancing and was opened to the world of Modern Jive which she competed in and won some Australian titles in the Masters division. It was from there she discovered, fell in love with and learnt West Coast Swing. Once Perth became too far away from the West Coast Swing scene in QLD, she moved over to Brisbane to further her dancing. Professionally Maddy is a judge, competitor, and coach in this style, but above all LOVES social dancing and believes this is the best way to grow your WCS. Her and Zac have been dance partners since 2015 and have been lucky enough to travel the world and teach this style to many, even winning some Australian and International titles along the way. She is known for her professionalism, infectious smile and making her dance partner feel like a million bucks.
You do not need to bring a partner in order to participate as the classes will be rotational. Anyone can choose to learn as a lead or follow. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Always a good idea to bring a drink bottle and deodorant if you need it.
