Event description

This year, our focus is on personal safety and security for women, girls, and whānau — both physically and online.

We are delighted to welcome Registered Psychologist Megan Williams, who will share her expertise and experiences to help us better understand psychological safety and why it matters, what to look out for in today’s world and how to build empowerment through awareness.

Rose Gilmore, Senior Account Manager for Business Technology Group, will share her insights on being safe online, avoiding scams and practical tips and tricks. Rose works with businesses across the Bay of Plenty to support their growth through the use of reliable, trusted and secure technology platforms.

There will be a short interactive demonstration on self-defence techniques that can be used in everyday situations.

We will also be opening nominations for the Women's Fund distributions for 2026. As always, we will have a $10 raffle full of beautiful local gifts, with all proceeds going into the fund.

Venue: Youth Central, 135 Thirteenth Avenue, Tauranga South, Tauranga 3112
Date & Time: Saturday, 1 November | 2:00 – 4:00pm
Koha: $20 per person. $15 from each ticket sale will be donated directly to the Western Bay of Plenty Women’s Fund, and $5 will be allocated as a contribution to the fund's administrative costs.

After the main event, guests are warmly invited to continue the kōrero with our committee over refreshments at:
Picnicka Bar and Grill, Level 2 Elizabeth Towers, 38 Elizabeth Street, Tauranga
(Food and drinks at attendees’ own expense.)

Come along for an afternoon of learning, connection, and empowerment.
