Western Edge Guided Walk: Cooleman Ridge
Event description
Cooleman Ridge Park Care Group will provide a guided tour for visitors to enjoy the views and vegetation of Cooleman Ridge.
The walk will be approx 3.5kms and take up to 2 hrs. From Darrell Place we will head west to enjoy the expansive views across the Murrumbidgee plain to the mountain ranges bordering with NSW, then along the back track past the Old Dam. We will say "hello" to our wombat in his burrow, and then up a steep short curve to the ridge leading to Cooleman Trig. Here we will admire the views to the north to Black Mountain, before heading back via our "Panorama Walk" where there are views south to Mt Tennent.
• Walk duration: up to 2 hours
• The track is good, with only one steep part. Participants can leave earlier if necessary and they should be able to easily find their way back to their vehicle.
• Exact meeting place and time will be communicated to booked participants prior to the event date, so please register
About the campaign
This walk is part of the Save Our Western Edge Campaign.
Canberra’s Western Edge, a beautiful patch of critically endangered ecosystems to Canberra’s west, is up for unsustainable, unaffordable and dangerous development by the ACT Government. With Canberra’s urban boundary being set by the ACT Government over the next two years, we have to tell our government now, before decisions are made, that we want our Western Edge protected — not developed — so it can continue to provide vital services to our community.
